Krabi Shooting Range at Ao Nam Mao

The Krabi shooting range sits at Ao Nam Mao, about 15 minutes' drive east of Ao Nang Beach and 20 to 25 minutes from Krabi town. How a session actually works

You arrive, you are handed a printed gun menu, and you choose from it. Guns are priced per 10-shot magazine on the a-la-carte menu, so a session is measured in shots rather than in hours: you can take ten rounds through one pistol and stop there, or work through several firearms over a longer visit. Before anything is loaded you get a safety briefing, and ear and eye protection are issued to every shooter. A range officer stays at your side in the lane and supervises the whole session, which is why the range takes complete beginners: no previous experience is needed.

Minimum-age and safety rules apply on a live-fire range, and they are not something to guess at from a website. Tell us who is coming when you book, including ages, and we will confirm exactly what is allowed for your group before you travel out there. Nobody in a group is left standing around either way, because the archery, BB gun and ATV options on the same site are open to people who cannot or would rather not use the live-fire lanes.

Prices, packages and what a-la-carte means

A-la-carte shooting starts at ฿1,100 for 10 shots on a .22LR rifle, and every one of the 26 firearms is priced the same way, by the 10-shot magazine. That is the cheapest way in if you want to try one gun, take the photographs and leave it there.

If you want a proper session, nine fixed shooting packages run from ฿4,000 to ฿10,000 and bundle two to four different guns together. Package A, at ฿4,000, is 40 shots split across two firearms: 20 through a .22LR M4 and 20 through a .38 revolver. The larger packages add more guns and more rounds on the same principle. Whichever route you take, extra shots and additional firearms beyond what you booked are charged on the day and are not part of the quoted rate, so bring a card or some cash if you think you might want another magazine once you have started.

Which guns the range holds

There are 26 firearms on the menu. At the lighter end are .22LR rifles, including a .22LR M4, which are the usual starting point for anyone who has never fired a gun before. From there the menu runs through 9mm pistols, a .38 revolver and .45 pistols, then into the heavier and louder end of the rack: the .44 Magnum Desert Eagle, a .308 sniper rifle, the Kriss Vector and a Benelli shotgun. The .44 Magnum Desert Eagle is the one most people want a photograph with, though the lighter rifles are the easier place to start.

BB gun and archery

Not everyone in a group wants live fire, and the site is set up for that. BB gun shooting comes with 100 balls at ฿1,350 for an adult and ฿1,150 for a child aged 4 to 11, and target archery is ฿1,400 and ฿1,200 on the same basis. Both are sold as add-ons alongside an ATV ride rather than as standalone tickets, so they usually form part of a combo booking. They are the quieter half of the site and a sensible option for younger visitors, for anyone who is not comfortable around firearms, and for the person in the group who would rather hold a camera than a Desert Eagle.

ATV trails and the elephant trek

The ATV programs run on the same site: 30 minutes at ฿1,200 for an adult and ฿900 for a child aged 4 to 11, or a full hour at ฿1,700 and ฿1,500. The machines are automatic, so there is no clutch and no gear changing to learn, and the trails run over dirt and muddy ground. An ATV ride combined with a 30-minute elephant trek is ฿2,000 and ฿1,800; the elephant trek is an add-on and availability can vary, so ask about it when you book rather than counting on it. Opening hours, and getting there from Ao Nang

The site is open every day from 09:00 to 18:30. Free hotel pickup around Ao Nang and Krabi town is included when you book through us, with the pickup window running from 09:00 to 17:30, so the practical thing is to message us the day before on WhatsApp with your hotel and a rough start time. Hotel transfer, fuel for the ATV, a soft drink, all equipment, the safety briefing and guides are included in the booked rate. Extra shots, additional firearms and personal expenses are not.

Coming under your own steam, it is a short run east along the coast road from Ao Nang, roughly 15 minutes, and the drive from Krabi town takes 20 to 25 minutes.

Who the range suits

It suits people who want an hour of something loud and completely unlike a beach day, and it is a reliable fallback when the sea is rough and the island boats are not running. It works for couples, for groups of friends, and for mixed families where the adults shoot while the children ride, do archery or take the BB gun. It suits anyone curious about firearms who has no access to a range at home, since the whole session is supervised round by round.
