Krabi Shooting Range & ATV Extreme is a booked half day at Ao Nam Mao, a short drive east of Ao Nang toward Krabi town. The point of it is the combination: one site gathers off road ATV trails, an optional elephant trek, target archery and BB gun shooting, and a live fire range with 26 firearms, and you build a single itinerary across them. There is no boat and no island hopping involved, which makes it a useful choice when the sea is rough or when somebody in the group wants something different from the beach.

What the day looks like

The site is open every day from 09:00 to 18:30, and the schedule is flexible rather than fixed. You tell us roughly when you would like to start and which of the four activities you want, and we arrange the rest around that. Hotel transfer is included and the pickup window runs from 09:00 to 17:30.

Most groups open with the ATV, then split up for whichever combination of archery, BB gun and range time suits them, with the elephant trek added if it is available that day. Fuel for the ATV, a soft drink, all equipment, the safety briefing and guides are included in the booked rate.

The ATV trails

The ATV route runs over dirt and muddy ground on moderate bumpy trails, so expect to finish the ride dirtier than you started it. The machines are automatic and easy to drive, with no clutch and no gear changing, so previous experience is not required. Rides are offered as a 30 minute circuit or a full hour, with a briefing before you set off.

Elephant trekking

Elephant trekking is available as an optional 30 minute ride, most commonly paired with an ATV circuit as a combined program. It is an add on rather than a core part of the day, and availability can vary, so confirm it when you book rather than treating it as a fixture.

Archery and the BB gun

Target archery and BB gun shooting are the quieter half of the site. Both are sold as combo add ons alongside an ATV ride, the BB gun coming with 100 balls, and both are the sensible option for anyone who is not going to use the live fire lanes. They keep a mixed group busy while the adults are at the range.

The shooting range, as part of the day

The range is the fourth component: a live fire range stocked with 26 firearms, from .22LR M4 rifles at the lighter end up to the .44 Magnum Desert Eagle, the Kriss Vector and a Benelli shotgun. You can book a set package of shots across a fixed pair of guns, or order a la carte by the round. All equipment and a safety briefing are included, and range staff stay with you throughout. Minimum age and safety rules do apply, so if you are traveling with teenagers, confirm the details with us before you book.

It works for couples and groups of friends, for families where the children are old enough for the ATV age bracket and can fall back on archery or the BB gun, and for anyone who has already spent several days on boats. Because it is a flexible half day, it also fits an arrival or departure day when a full island trip would be too much.

It is less suitable if you want wildlife viewing, quiet nature or a swimming stop, or if loud noise bothers you, since the range is live fire and audible across the site.

What to bring

Wear clothes and closed shoes you do not mind getting muddy, because the ATV trails will splash you. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and a change of clothes. A camera or phone is worth having, kept secured while riding. Cash or a card is useful for extra shots or additional firearms, which are not covered in the standard price.

Good to know

Krabi high season runs roughly from November to April, with drier and more settled conditions. The monsoon months of May to October bring heavier rain, which mostly affects the ATV trails: they get muddier, which many people consider an improvement.
